The keybed of the NG 1 was the worst i have ever played......an absolute desaster in any way. From the dry noise example here i guess the version 2 is still bad. I still cannot believe how the, for any professional player inaccebtable Keybed found its way into the NG1.

Is there a way to have the arpeggiator and or latch on one keyboard zone and play single notes on another zone?

It’s a myth that grand piano actions are always heavier - the best grand pianos I’ve played (Steinway and Yamaha C7) have had light and very playable actions. If the action makes your fingers tired then that’s a huge pass for me. It really annoys me when digital piano actions are made artificially heavy.

Great instrument, but for that price I would expect a better action like the wooden action that Kawai is using in their own pianos which btw is much cheaper than Nord Grand 2. And then the never ending question, why.....only 2GB sample memory. In 2024 that is sound more and more like a joke. This is an instrument that you will probably keep for many years and more memory would make it more future proof. And what a about MIDI 2.0. No one talks about it I think the higher velocity resolution would certainly benefit an instrument like this. If NORD don't have it ready today they could a least give us the option to upgrade in the future with an expansion module. But I guess they just want to make money upgrading as little as possible from one model to another. No environment or sustainability thinking at all.

First off I would like to thank you for your videos. It's very nice of you to share your knowledge. However, after listening to your video, I still am not clear as how the basic scene two function works. There were WAY too many tangents off into other areas of the keyboard and effects making it very difficult for the listener to focus on learning the feature. Hope this helps and thank you again for creating these videos. :)

Why can’t you have amp envelope and filter envelope both on?

On the Synth pad layer, when I use the sustain pedal, every keypress adds an additional note layer which ultimately increases the volume. How can I tweak so when using to sustain pedal it will keep the same note without multiplying it? Thank you for this great channel and keep on posting!

Can you create chord progressions from a record sample. Basically assign a chop to the keys, rather than the pads and get all the variations of notes from the sample. Not from the library/sound kits included with the machine, just from record samples. I have yet to see anyone do this. I'm on the fence with buying this machine. And I'm still in the dark, as to whether or not this is possible.

Sounds beautiful. Quick question, have you ever connected your MPC Key 37 to your Stage 4? So that the Stage 4 can use the sounds from Fabric for example? If so, could you please make a video showing how to do this? I can’t get it to work myself.

Much prefer the deep sound of the Nord. But these devices do other things too. So it's prob worth twice as much.

A comment unrelated to this maybe but: I tried using a sustain pedal with my new Akai 61. The pedal should work, it's never been used before, a Kawai pedal. Connected it - nothing happens! Do you have to "activate" pedals in a menu on the synth or something?

Too expensive - save your money and keep looking. Action on Korg Nautilus 61-73 is extremely quiet, but feels cheap. However, piano sounds somewhat make up for it. Action on ancient Korg 01/W 61-73 is a bit thunkier, (but is alleviated by replacing the aged felt), but is the best all-around action I've played - not too much or too little of one thing. Not tiring, not too heavy. Note to Korg: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But sadly, everything _else_ on that keyboard is badly outdated (except the basic synth/pad sounds, which are still very relevant.) But no one (except classical pros) needs 88 keys, whatever the action/keybed. 73 keys (3 octaves above and below middle C) are a gracious plenty for 99% of pieces, esp. pop music. Anything more is unnecessary (and more expensive...and heavier) fluff. But not to diss on Nord, the drone feature on their keyboards has found its way into and inspired some fantastic contemporary religious songs. See "What A Beautiful Name" for example. That feature _makes_ that tune.

The Nord Stage, Electro 5/6 have the C2 organ. I own the Electro 5D and tried to tweak the Akai organ to get it close to the Nord. It seems that the Akai is missing a frequency to help get it close. I had to add the Akai’s para eq in to get it somewhat close but still no cigar. 2 heads are better than one so if anyone out there knows which Akai effect to add to tweak it would be much appreciated.

Douglas, I have two questions about making groups of copies, and partial copies with FX (but maybe with Layers too); but first: I so appreciate this channel, thank you. I'm new to Nord and the channel, just wanted to let you know in my first comment since your videos are my favorite among the other Nord tutorials (and in general tbh). I almost never leave RUclips comments, but your videos are so helpful. They're not one single 3 hour video, they're clear audio and visuals, to the point (just education, no theater), intelligible delivery, just the right amount of genuine energy (not over the top, not dull, and can easily tell you love the craft). . . I could go on. I'm going to be looking into taking one of your courses. Is there a way to copy/paste the FX section in its entirety, or multiple FX all at once? I know you can paste a single FX to many layers with the Group option, but not the other way. Second question is just out of curiosity, can't imagine needing this: is there a way to copy/paste only a single parameter of an FX? Like, just the stage reverb, but not that it's bright? Or parameters with dials not buttons, so only copying the amp's drive level, not the type?

NO NO NO! The original Grands action was SO PERFECT!! Sp you'er telling, us that what happened to the action of the Stage 3 to the Stage 4, has happened from the Grand to the Grand 2?? That really sucks! Now I'm thinking about cancelling my order.

How can you control the octaves of a vst from the Nord stage 4? The Nord has 3 Octave change buttons, and none of them change the octave of the midi controlled VST or DAW software instruments.

The c7 on this sounds way better then on a nord!!!!! Personally I’m just buying this board. I like that it has the wooden keys, on a nord as you play you hear this strange compression even though the compresser is off. The yahama has a way better more crisp sound

I won’t ever own an over priced nord but nice playing. Too many people have it honestly
